To the town of Mesquite we go and West Mesquite High where the Newman Smith Trojans led by Stephen Spurlock and his 17 a game took on the always tough Wranglers on West Mesquite. The Trojans kick things off when Darion Brown just BLOWS by his defender and then avoids the next one and scoops home the lay up, Brown a huge game as he finished with 18. Wranglers answer back when Jalen Etienne gets it ahead to Nate Davis who has a clear path to the rim and he HAMMERS it home. But Davis would not be done playing above the rim. Here the Wranglers come up with the steal and Jordan Johnson lobs it up to Davis and again he throws it down, I tell you what, for a 6 footer Mr. Davis plays a lot taller, he ended the game with 18. Then Spurlock gets in the action when he shows off the silky smooth lefty jumper from behind the arc, he led his team in scoring with 19. Wranglers decide it's time to unleash Mr. Rayson....Braylon Rayson that is...he started pouring in 3s like they were going out of style, didn't matter if anyone was in his face or not just one after another for the Central Michigan commit, it all added up to a game high 25...but...it would not be enough, again it's Spurlock with the drive, the SWEET spin and the kiss off the glass, nice move by the lefty and Newman Smith goes in to beat West Mesquite for the second time this year by the score of 74-70.
