Sarracenia leucophylla at Splinter Hill Bog Preserve (Alabama)

In May 2011 we visit the Splinter Hill Bog Preserve in Alabama (USA) and stay for some days at the Nature Conservancy's Research house in the midst of the strictly protected and fenced area. Guided by Brian Barnes (ICPS Director of Conservation), we learn about the importance of prescribed fire for the rare plants and are able to film some of the last remaining larger remnants of Sarracenia leucophylla. Fascinated by a wonderful and rich nature we find even more species of Sarracenia, Drosera and also some beautiful orchids. Im Mai 2011 besuchen wir das Splinter Hill Moor in Alabama (USA) und wohnen für einige Tage in der Forschungsstation der Nature Conservancy, inmitten des streng geschützten und eingezäunten Geländes. Geführt von Brian Barnes (ICPS Director of Conservation) erfahren wir, wie wichtig kontrollierte Feuer für die seltenen Pflanzen dort sind und können einige der letzten größeren Vorkommen von Sarracenia leucophylla filmen. Fasziniert von einer herrlichen und reichhaltigen Natur finden wir auch noch andere Sarraceniaarten, Sonnentau und einige Orchideen.
