Plant poaching: how to avoid ego-driven criminality while collecting succulents

Описание к видео Plant poaching: how to avoid ego-driven criminality while collecting succulents

As collecting succulents grows in popularity, the brazen collection of plants from habitats is becoming a growing issue. Plants (that are often hundreds of years old) are hacked from the environment and shipped all over the globe to ego-driven collectors seeking the most prized specimens. However, some plants common in cultivation are also often lifted from nature. In this video, I examine a few of these plant families -- Conophytums, Dudleyas, Copiapoas, Stephanias and Pachypodiums, as well as the plant pictured -- Euphorbia rapulum. Then, I suggest some tips for ensuring our collection remains ethical, including growing plants from seed.
