Victims alleging police excesses in Kerala have approached the National Human Rights Commission and also Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. In Kollam, an army man and his brother were allegedly roughed up in custody by the police. Following a representation from the family, the Indian Army sought an explanation from state police top brass. A few days ago, the police were seen dragging a woman in Manjeri. The victim has written to the NHRC alleging police brutality. A few months ago, protesters were seen being dragged by police personnel in Malappuram.
