Mashramani is an Amerindian word meaning, celebration of a job well done. It is observed on the 23 February – Guyana’s Republic Day – to commemorate the “Birth of the Republic”. This usually happens in the Capital city of Georgetown on February 23. Mashramani (Mash) celebrations then move to other major towns and areas in Guyana in the following weekend/s from the February 23 so that the wider populace can celebrate.
