The ferry Bohus was built in 1971 as Prinsessan Desiree for the shipping company Sessan Linjen and was in service on the Gothenburg - Frederikshavn route.

In the early 1980s, the ship was chartered out to various shipping companies and sailed between Ireland and England and France and England.

In 1985, the ferry was renamed EUROPAFÄRJAN II.
In 1987 the ship was renamed LION PRINCESS.

In 1993, the ship was sold to the Scandi Lines shipping company and was used under the name BOHUS on the Strömstad - Sandefjord route.

In 1999, the ferry was sold to Color Line and continued to operate on the Strömstad - Sandefjord route until summer 2019.
The ship was decommissioned by Color Line in August 2019 and sold to Greece, where it was renamed IONIAN STAR.
