Music: Presence of the Moment - Steve Haun
As the "Line 4" of the MBTA's subway system, the Red Line connects up most of the "central" areas of Boston, including Harvard University, MIT, the South Station, and the downtown area. With the highest average daily ridership, this line is equipped with more than 200 wide and long subway cars. Most of these cars are fairly old: model #1 (1500s and 1600s) were manufactured by Pullman-Standard in 1969-1970; model #2 (1700s) were manufactured by UTDC in 1987-1989; model #3 (1800s) were manufactured by Bombardier in 1993-1994 (which are all in much better condition, and runs MUCH smoother and quieter than older series).
On 12/30/2020, the first #4 (1900s and 2000s) train, leaded by #1900 and #1904 on either end, came into service. It was manufactured by CRRC in 2019, and are equipped with high-tech facilities like info screens, security cameras, auto systems, and ridership counters. Most parts of this train looks the same comparing to the Orange Line's 1400s, except the color.
The video was taken on a #1800s train, as it is also going to retire by 2023, so it is worth memorable. Another reason is that #1900s has a thick curtain behind the "railfan window", leaving a small part that could be opened up only from inside the drivers' cab. Indeed, most 1800s offer a great front view.
The faces of the crews aren't included in this video. As the headstock seat isn't allowed to be taken yet, I was recording this by standing behind and holding my camera straight forward.

Thanks for watching!
