We also had the Minsk 125 in Britain, during the early 1980's, branded as the Cossack Minsk 125. These bikes were only 70% of the price of a new, very reliable CZ125 or extremely ugly MZ125.
Called the "Minge", by UK bikers, it had a reputation for terrible unreliability, worst than 2000 to 2015 Chinese 125cc bikes.
Superbike magazine attempted to road test one,, in May 1984, with the dealership the new bike was collected from, telling the rider to, "We don't want it returned, just take it to the scrap yard, when you've finished with it!!". It broke down within a few miles of the dealership and had to taken, by truck, to the Motor Industries Research Institute facility, where it broke down, once more, halfway through the timing lights top speed experiment. This time it refused to start ever again.
The bike was delivered to a scrap yard, shortly afterwards.
