Original WWOR-TV 9 Broadcast with Ralph Kiner and Tim McCarver the final game of a four game series from Shea Stadium. Recorded and Digitalized off the original recorded VHS tape which was later converted to DVD (cir.2002) and has been restored and up on youtube for the first time making its debut on my Phenia Film archival page.
From a sloppy, rainy playing conditions at Shea which includes a hour and a half rain delay with the starters Danny Jackson for the Reds and Ron Darling for the Mets. The Mets take a 2 to 1 lead going into the ninth inning as John Franco takes over in the 8th inning replacing Jeff Innis. The Reds tie the game in the ninth on a double off the bat of Joe Oliver scoring Mariano Duncan. In the btm 9th reliever Norm Charleston comes in replacing Rob Dibble as the Mets. Mets score an unearned run after a lead off double by Mackay Sasser who was the hitting star of the 2nd game of the series and a throwing error by Cincinnati's Ken Griffey after a bunt attempt from Kevin Elster as Sasser comes in from third and the Mets take 3 of the 4 games from the Reds.
Winning Pitcher John Franco (4-0) and Norm Charleston gets the loss (6-2)
