"Do you have to use such powerful weapons" is the voice line you hear several times in EDF 5 when you use the Tempest. I said in another Scyllas based mission that using the Tempest in these missions is a bad idea, but on this one works like a charm. If you're lucky...

This is another mission with a lot of Scyllas in 2 waves, all aggroed, with an initial small wave of grey ants just to annoy.

The Tempest is a weapon more useful against powerful static or not aggroed enemies. It's unusual that it can be used against fast moving ones.

The 3 NPC tanks will concentrate in the same area once the first wave of 6 Scyllas arrives. The monsters will trash them quickly, but usually, they will all concentrate by jumping over them. A Tempest can work pretty well in this case, as there's a good chance to hit several Scyllas at the same time and the tanks will be dead meat anyway.
On the second wave, the Tempest will be much harder to use effectively. The tanks are gone, and your only decoy will be the ranger NPCs who are wiped out in a snap. Another squad of Rangers will show up in a canyon to the left of the beach from the mountainside, but they will arrive later and by then some or all Scyllas will be all over your initial captured NPCs or you. So it will be very hard to get all Scyllas in such a way to use effectively the Tempest again.
Do remember that Tempests will come from a random direction and the time that will take them to reach the objective is variable.

In the first wave, I got 5 of the 6 Scyllas with one Tempest (if you see the hits video frame there are 8, another 3 from the tank NPCs). It was pretty good and there is always the chance to get the 6 at the same time.
In the second, 5 out of 9. I chose to gamble by trying to get some of Scyllas from the second wave quickly after they spawned, while my NPCs entertained the last one from the first, and was lucky again. Using the Tempest on the NPCs will be hard since it's probable they will be near you and you'll get hit too.

Scyllas will one shot you if they hit you outside a vehicle and have low armor. Outrun or escape them it's almost impossible for the AR. Once all NPCs are gone all Scyllas alive will home on you, and I REALLY mean home on you, and the mission will likely be hell to finish, vehicle or no vehicle.

Vehicle is the level 80 Red Guard, the almost not used in this case level 62 105mm Rapid-Fire Gun Y and 64 Vulcan Cannon M1, and the flames level 65 Guard/Capsule F2W. Flame weapons are effective against Scyllas.

This was a pretty lucky run, in the end I could even afford to see just for fun if the remaining NPCs were able to kill the last Scylla alone. They almost did it.
This is the best way I found to get the mission solved anyway, not very fond of having missions down to the RNG gods but it does work. Scyllas are not as unpredictable as Nakers, but they take unexpected paths so all missions with a few of them are always unreliable. In all other ways I tried this mission it was dreadful to end it.

Have fun,
