With less than an hour's play time beyond the free story beta ... I find PVP during a world event, and then get blown out of the water by a large PVE ship. How does death work in AoW? I found out you must recover items which the large boat was not camping so that was nice. I get lucky shortly after...find a pontoon field that gets me back up to speed with resources all right before server maintenance.
