You've found the engagement ring of your dreams. Now find the perfect wedding band to match.

Step 1: Match metals
Match the metal in the wedding band to the metal in your engagement ring. Using the same metal in both is ideal, but a white gold engagement ring may also pair well with a platinum band and vice versa.

Step 2: Coordinate cut and setting
Coordinate the cut of the stones in the band to the engagement ring; if you have a princess cut engagement stone, consider princess cut stones in the band. Decide if you want channel set stones, which offer more protection; pave set stones; or a prong set.

Tip
Choose a three-stone ring, which symbolizes your past, present, and future.

Step 3: Consider color and brilliance
Consider colored stones to contrast the engagement ring. If you're matching color, make sure the brilliance of the stones in the band doesn't outshine the engagement stone.

Step 4: Choose width
Choose a wedding band with a similar width, in millimeters, as the engagement ring to make it look more like a set.

Step 5: Consider a classic
Consider a solitaire, a plain metal band, which is a classic. This timeless band pairs well with any other ring and will always be in style.

Did You Know?
Wedding rings were not always worn on the left hand. Eighteenth-century Roman Catholics wore them on the right hand.
