MSB - Flashpoint (Martin Cordner)

Описание к видео MSB - Flashpoint (Martin Cordner)

This piece was written by Martin Cordner for the MSB's 125th Anniversary and was used as a concert opener during the year.

In explaining the background to the piece, Martin wrote:
"A flashpoint can be described as a physical place or a stage in time where hostility flares up. Over years of open-air ministry, Salvation Army bands have often been at the centre of hostility. Opposition would come because Salvationists were fighting in a great salvation war, and in going to highways, drinking houses and clubs, they would be tackling the enemy head on; right when people (albeit unbeknown to them) were facing temptation.

Even today, it is at that 'flashpoint' – the moment in time where the battle for a soul is at its most intense – that The Salvation Army needs to be present, aiding people to a decision for Christ. My view is that it is in those physical and metaphorical places that The Salvation Army finds its true purpose. Hence the use of the song I'll stand for Christ (S.A.S.B. 960) in this work."
