Evoke the congested Neurolymphatic Points of the anterior thoracic region via vigorous light tapping or rubbing to improve or wake up the strength within the intercostal muscles and surrounding Serratus Anterior. More importantly this seems to allow the muscles to return to a longer resting length which then provides correct Scapulo-humeral rhythm. The normal range of movement for shoulder flexion is 165 degrees (bilaterally) the last 15 degrees is achieved by Thoracic extension. This extension is compromised with a stiff Tx spine and rib cage and we see people presenting with shoulder conditions including strains, tendinosis, tendinopathies and impingement syndromes. Test your clients’ with shoulder complaints for their resistive strength in arm vertical extension, activate the points as demonstrated and then re-test their strength. Trust me that you WILL get improved quality of strength and decreased pain through range.
