The six months of war that the French, British, Australian, New Zealand and Indian soldiers fought on the Gallipoli peninsula was the culmination of months of British errors. It proved that Imperial prejudices transferred to military planning cost thousands of lives, and it laid bare the incompetence of British generals. The Allies had already come across the deadly fire power of machine guns in France, but were still surprised by the devastating effect of a few Turkish weapons on the almost undefended beaches.
This hour-long documentary tells the tragic story equally from both sides with Turkish and British experts on location.
