🔑 THE 4 SCORING CATEGORIES (1-5 Scale):

1. CONTENT & TASK ACHIEVEMENT
Does your essay directly answer the question?
Are opinions supported with strong reasons and details?

2. ORGANIZATION & FLOW
Is the essay well-organized (intro, 3 body, conclusion)?
Does writing flow logically with linking words?

3. VOCABULARY
Do you use appropriate, varied, and specific words?
Avoid repetition and basic vocabulary?

4. GRAMMAR
Do you use a range of correct sentence structures?
Are tenses and verb forms accurate?

📊 THE SCORING LADDER:

SCORE 5 (A+ Essay):
✅ Near-perfect essay
✅ Answers question completely
✅ Ideas perfectly organized
✅ Every sentence clear and interesting
✅ Syntactic variety (mix of sentence types)
✅ Flawless organization
✅ Only tiny mistakes (like slightly smudged pen mark)

SCORE 4 (A/B Essay):
✅ Great essay, answers question well
✅ Organization is solid
⚠️ Few small mistakes (missing comma, slightly wrong word)
⚠️ Everything still easy to understand
⚠️ One or two parts could use improvement

How to move from 4 to 5:
Add syntactic variety (not just simple sentences)
Make organization absolutely flawless
Eliminate all minor errors

SCORE 3 (C Essay - Needs Improvement):
⚠️ Examiner understands main points but has to work to find them
⚠️ Ideas not fully explained (missing Explain or Example steps)
⚠️ Mistakes make sentences confusing (wrong verb endings)
⚠️ Basic words used repeatedly
⚠️ Needs more detail and cleaning up

Biggest difference between 3 and 4: COHERENCE
Score 4 = flows naturally
Score 3 = examiner must guess connections
This is why linking words are critical!

SCORE 2 (Hard to Read):
❌ Big grammar/spelling mistakes happen often
❌ Hard to understand what writer means
❌ Paragraphs not connected well
❌ Might not fully answer question
❌ Ideas feel thrown onto page

SCORE 1 (Unacceptable):
❌ Doesn't answer question at all
❌ Mostly blank
❌ Just a few sentences that make no sense

💡 KEY TAKEAWAYS:

Content: Answer the question completely with strong support
Organization: Use the 5-paragraph structure + linking words
Vocabulary: Be specific and varied (avoid repetition)
Grammar: Mix sentence types, check verb forms

Follow the formula from this series = guaranteed high score!
