Antelope Canyon - Upper antelope

Описание к видео Antelope Canyon - Upper antelope

Antelope Canyon was originally home to many antelopes which is where it got its name. The Navajo People, consider antelope canyon to be a sacred site and refer to Upper Antelope as “’Tsé bighánílíní,’ which means “the place where water runs through rocks.”
Antelope Canyon was formed over millions of years by the power of flowing water and wind erosion. The slot canyon was created primarily by flash floods and rainwater that rushed through the sandstone, carving its narrow, twisting passageways.
The process begins when rainwater, often from distant storms, flows into the desert basin and channels into the canyon. As the water travels, it picks up sand and debris, turning into a powerful, abrasive force. Over time, this flow sculpts the soft Navajo sandstone into smooth, flowing walls, intricate curves, and dramatic formations.
