Do you know, according to the Shiva Purana, there are some substances that should not be used at all during Shiva worship?

First: Water from a conch shell
As Shiva defeated Shankhachood, and the conch originated from his ashes, water is never offered to Shiva from a conch.

Second: Basil leaves
Lord Shiva defeated the demon Jalandhar, the husband of Tulsi. Therefore, Tulsi, out of her divine qualities, refrained from being used in worship for Lord Shiva.

Third: Coconut water
While coconut is offered to the Shiva Linga, it is not used for abhishekam (ritual bathing) because the substances used for the linga's abhishekam are not accepted.

Fourth: Turmeric
The Shiva Linga represents the male principle, and turmeric is considered a female-oriented substance. Hence, turmeric is not applied to the Shiva Linga.

Fifth: Ketaki flower
Brahma gave false testimony using the Ketaki flower, leading Lord Shiva to reject it from his worship.
