Comparing the Allen 542RR 4 Bike Carrier versus the Allen S555 5 Bike Carrier. I show you how both have convenience access to the trunk, how to mount and secure a bike to each rack.
Key points on the 542RR It seems to not stick out as much, but is a bit more cumbersome to use. Locking Pins make using the rack a bit more difficult, Nylon straps also take more time but for some reason feel a bit more secure to me.

The S555 is massive and weights quite a bit more than the 542RR. However accessing the trunk using the quick release pins makes it a one handed job. the S555 extends out very far and I would recommend you have back up assistance or a camera in order to park your vehicle in a tight spot if you have the bike rack attached.
