I first went to a Teamlab museum back in the first week of 2020, I think it was my fourth day after having moved to Tokyo, and I went totally alone yet spent 3 hours there just in awe of the digital artworks. It was Teamlab Borderless (which that specific location closed I think last year, but is re-opening in its new Azabudai Hills location soon!!) and despite loving Borderless, never went back to go to Planets.

I had generally heard it was smaller and not quite as good, so if you had to pick, to go to Borderless. And while I still think that’s kind of true, Planets was fantastic! And the line was waaaay less long than Borderless was back in January 2020. Some of the artworks were the same as what was at Borderless, but it was mainly original works. And the water artworks were very different, so if that's something you definitely want to see then Planets would be the one for you!

If you want to check out Planets, its a bit out of the way but is sort of close to Ginza/Tsukiji area, so I’d recommend going the same day you go to Tsukiji (if that is also on your itinerary—and I think it should be!). Id budget to spend about an 1-1.5 hrs at Planets, and to make sure to buy your ticket in advance! Entry is timed, so you can only go during your time slot and daytime slots especially sell out in advance.
