The Spire IR was just announced, I was able to get my hands on them a few months ago at World Cup, but was finally told that we could tell you guys! At first glance you might even think the Spire IR is a Spire 200, as it looks similar to it’s older sister. OK, well not similar they are nearly identical twins.

So what is the Spire IR? The Spire IR, is really just a less expensive better version of the Spire 200. With so many $100 loaders hitting the market, like the GI Sportz LVL and Dye Rotor LTR. Virtue was feeling left out so in comes the Spire IR.

The biggest obvious difference in the back-shell. Virtue has stuck with the same locking mechanism that was found on the original Spire’s but that about all. The biggest change to the back-shell is material, it is not made out of the same material as the rest of the shell. Good other stuff was just to brittle and new should be much more durable.

On all versions of the Spire before whether the old or the new Spire III they have all used a gyroscope in the nose to sense the gun shooting to know when to feed. The Spire IR, uses you may have guessed it IR, or Infrared. Infrared has been used of paintball guns and hoppers forever, it is what is used for your break beams eyes or many hoppers over the years.
