In another great speech brought to you by TEDxSquareMile 2014, Dwayne Fields explores the true power of an idea whilst reminiscing and reflecting on his earlier years and experiences. Determined to make a change in society and inspire others to choose wisely, Fields headed to an expedition of the North Pole where in between the below-freezing temperatures and dried up astronaut-like food, he realised that the real power of an idea lays in the very moments of making it a reality.


Born in Jamaica, Fields grew up in the UK from the age of six. He has been the victim of both knife and gun crime and in the wake of his experiences of the effects of gangs and crime, he decided to change his life. He has become an adventurer/explorer; has completed a combined honours degree in Psychology and Third World Studies; he is an ambassador for his university (UEL); and gives motivational talks to young people on his exploits.
