I don't have virtual desktop (my airlink works well) so I can't really tell how to proceed in that case.
For the rest,

If you use an Oculus :

-It's actually simpler if you make it that whenever you start your pc, Oculus Tray Tools start and to make the switching to happen when Oculus Home start or close (the name is misleading, it is actually the Oculus PC app).
That way you don't have to clic anything on connection and it's just a one clic (to close the Oculus app window) on disconnection (the app start automatically every time you connect via link or airlink).

-And you launch SteamVR just to start Bigscreen,
You don't need it, and depending on your setup it might create an echo.

-And you want to play a SteamVR app (while not being on Bigscreen), you can have both configurations shown in the video at the same time and it will work.

-And turned off your pc after a VR session without quitting Oculus tray tool, you might have this issue where some apps (like google chrome) still cast to Bigscreen even if you change your default speaker, in this case, check in the sound mixer options that the app as not changed to something else than default, if still not working and you restarted the app, temporally disable the Bigscreen speaker, you can do that from the window shown on the left at 3:26.

-And you want to stream a VR game (not flat) on Bigscreen, try to play the SteamVR version of it (you need to see the name of the game in the SteamVR windows) or people will probably not hear it.
To prevent echoes in that case, either disable the mirroring on the SteamVR side temporarily, or make it that SteamVR is casting directly to your VR speaker (which should change the default on windows) and mirrors to Bigscreen.

-And you use the same speaker in and out of VR, you can use Voicemeeter so you don't have to change any connection for non SteamVR games (jack & Bluetooth).
