Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Curt Rota-Flex 5th Wheel Pin Box for the Lippert 1621 or the Lippert 1621HD pin boxes, this has an 18,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this pivoting pin box will replace your standard pin box that's on your 5th wheel trailer to help improve handling and limit strain on your truck and even your trailer. Now, this is a Curt Rota-Flex pin box, it is the newer version of the Lippert Rota-Flex pin box, and it uses this pivoting head right up front here that has a built-in rubber compound, and that's designed to help keep to reduce the chucking and absorb any road shock for a lot smoother ride as you tow your trailer. So you can see, when your kingpin down here is connected to your 5th wheel hitch, has a pivot bolt right here and you can see the direction. Basically, this head can go up and down, and that'll help absorb a lot of the chucking and the shock.

Now, unlike a rigid pin box that has a little give at the point where the trailer and the hitch are connected, this Rota-Flex can pivot slightly to compensate for those times that you're trailer suddenly pushes or pulls on your tow vehicle, and because the pin box head not the kingpin itself is moving, the chucking that often occurs when the kingpin jerks around inside your hitch is significantly reduced. Now, this is a nice black powder coat finish, which provides rust resistant, and it is a sturdy steel construction. The kingpin on this will connect to any of the standard 5th wheel trailer hitches, and this Curt Rota-Flex will install in place of your Lippert 1621 or Lippert 1621HD 5th wheel pin box on your 5th wheel trailer. The Rota-Flex will use the same bolts that held on your original pin box, so there's no additional hardware required, and it'll come out of the box just like this all ready to be put on your trailer, so there's no assembly required. Now, one note I do wanna mention is because this Rota-Flex is quite heavy, probably a little over a hundred pounds, we do recommend to have a friend help you support its weight during installation.

Now, this part is made in the USA. Again, the weight capacity is 18,000 pounds, and the last thing I wanna give you is some critical measurements on the pin box. You need to know the overall width of the pin box, and then the measurement you'll need to know is from the center of the kingpin to the center of the front row of holes and then the center of the kingpin to the center of the back row of holes. So if we get our tape measure here, let me swing this around so I can get to show you when we measure the width of it. So if we measure the width on this, outside to outside is 12 inches, and then if we measure the center of the kingpin to the center of the front row of holes, and then center the kingpin to the back row of holes, so what I'm gonna do is use a mark up here that would get you to the center of the kingpin, so if we go to the front row of holes, center to center, 17 3/4 inches, and to the back row of holes, center to kingpin is gonna be 25 5/8 inches.
