Following too close and stopping too close to other traffic in a line are two of the hallmarks of social driving. If you're on the brake all the time and reacting to other traffic, you're following too close. Increase your following distance so you can respond to traffic and maintain a minimum safe distance. Stop behind other traffic so that you're approximately one vehicle length between you and other traffic.
