The iconic Wards Lake lies in the heart of Shillong town. It is very beautiful lake , surrounded by beautiful landscape, flowers garden and meadows. One can come here for recreation and boating facilities is also available.
It is reminiscent of British era, the construction of the lake was commissioned by the then Chief Commissioner of Assam , Sir William Ward in the year1893 and completed in 1894, hence the name Wards Lake after his name.
