Plotting Latitude/Longitude Data from Excel in ArcGIS | 3-Minute Step-by-Step Tutorial

Описание к видео Plotting Latitude/Longitude Data from Excel in ArcGIS | 3-Minute Step-by-Step Tutorial

To plot latitude and longitude stored in an Excel sheet in ArcGIS software, follow these steps:
Note it better to convert Excel data into CSF format.
1. Open ArcGIS and create a new project.
2. Click on "File" "Add Data" "Excel or CSV" and select your Excel/CSV file.
3. In the "Add Excel Table" dialog, select the sheet in case of using Excel sheet containing your data and choose "Latitude" and "Longitude" as the spatial reference columns
4. Click "OK" to import the data.
5. Right-click on the imported layer in the "Table of Contents" and select "Display XY Data".
6. In the "Display XY Data" dialog, select "Latitude" as the X field and "Longitude" as the Y field.
7. Choose a spatial reference system (SRS) that matches your data (e.g., WGS 1984).
8. Click "OK" to plot the points on the map.
9. You can now explore, analyze, and visualize your data using various ArcGIS tools and functions.

Note: Ensure your Excel sheet has a header row with column names, and the latitude and longitude columns are in a format that ArcGIS can recognize (e.g., decimal degrees).

Also, you can use the "GPS" tool in ArcGIS to directly import GPS data from Excel and plot it on the map.
