Well hello again! I have returned; I think I just needed a little break ya know? Then a Direct popped up and I was like “Wait I should post this first!” Anywho, I recently picked up Mario Kart Tour again, and I loved its rendition of GBA Cheep Cheep Island. Consider this a love letter to that remake, which I hope returns in the future! And as always, enjoy :D

Arrangement Notes:

This remix was a huge undertaking; at 15 unique instruments and 4 doubling instruments, this is the most complex piece I’ve ever arranged for the channel. The compositional styling of the piece is largely based on a fusion of the music of Hawaii, Caribbean Latin, and of course Jazz Fusion. In accomplishing this I chose to emulate DS Cheep Cheep Beach, each variant of Dolphin Shoals, GBA Boo Lake, and PanMan’s remix of GCN Peach Beach    • Mario Kart Fan Music -GCN Peach Beach- By ...  

The aspects of the original that I couldn’t perfectly replicate inspired my decisions in taking creative liberties. I was unable to create a flute sound that matched the original, so instead I rewrote the melody for mallet instruments, (Of course, I referenced the flute with the countermelody anyway lol). Likewise I transformed the chiptune instrument in the C section into an acoustic guitar-based chord progression and aligned the bass accordingly. The incredibly simple drum line also gave me the opportunity to add fills to my heart’s content - well, you get where I’m going with this.
