VINTAGE PALITOY ACTION MAN SHARPSHOOTER SOLDIER 1981 TO 1983

The Action Man Sharpshooter figure was released in 1981 and featured the last play feature developed for Action Man. A notch was moulded on the rim of the neck attachment hole which allowed the head to stay in the up position mimicking looking down weapon accessories sight. It was the idea of the son of Palitoy Employee John Hawkes who complained that the head of his Action Man wouldn't stay up and came up with his solution. I required minimal development costs and didn't compromises the realism of the figure. In 1983 the last version of Action Man was released with the new Orange Chevron packaging. Included was an ID Tag for the first time since 1970.
