Cut Simple Tenons at the Tops of the Posts | Posts & Post Bases Part 3

The tops of the posts need to be cut into a tenon to hold the beams. This serves two purposes: 1.) it helps strengthen the pergola, and 2.) it makes installing the beams much easier.

This video also shows chamfering of the post corners. While this step is optional, we highly recommend it since it softens the sharp corners of the posts and protects them from splintering.
