Preludes and Some Favorites - Sam Krahn Performs Classical Guitar Music

This album has been part of my life for many years. It originally existed as a CD (if one can remember those) that was mostly shared with family and friends that asked for a copy. As the years rolled on, CD players became less practical, and the change to an online streaming format seemed like a logical step. This album includes some pieces I learned in my early classical guitar days at Boston University, as well as some easier pieces from method book repertoire, some random arrangements, an original composition, and quite a few Beatles* songs. The final piece, “Prelude for Maria” was written as a proposal piece for my wife back in our Chicago days.

Due to the copyrights held by the original artists in many of these arrangements, this music is made freely available on YouTube.

All of these pieces are performed on a guitar made for me in 2003 by the amazing luthier Aaron Green, and I highly recommend you check him out if you are looking for a classical guitar.

*Those of you that know me are aware of my feelings about the Beatles and may be surprised to see these songs here. Well, there is a reason this album is entitled “Preludes and Some Favorites” (strong emphasis on SOME). All I can say is that there is a personal reason that made it necessary to record these at the time, and in any case I hope you enjoy them.
