Master Cicerone® - Neil Witte | Pints and Quarts - Ep. 073

A Cicerone is the US equivalent of a beer Sommelier (Certification used in most parts of the world). However, the Cicerone® program went beyond the conventional tests for a beer expert and created the Master Cicerone® Program, similar to a Master Beer Sommelier. The test to become a Master Cicerone®  is so difficult that until recently there were only 7 in the world - among them is Neil Witte (Duvel Moortgat / Boulevard / Ommegang). It was only last year that this number grew to 11, adding names like Rob MacKay and James Watt from Brew Dog, Patrick Rue from The Bruery and MillerCoors/Tenth & Blake Beer Co Jason Pratt. Well, to be fair the Master Cicerone program is only 8 year old, still 11 Master Cicerone® in 8 years make these people a select group.
