Amazing Bengali Folk Songs Collection by Purnadas Baul, Amar Pal, Kartick Das Baul, Subhas Chakraborty, Geeta Chowdhury & Ansuman Roy. The songs of the soil are another way of defining Bengali folk songs. These are not only songs for mere entertainment but deep rooted philosophy on life and death. Bengali folk songs are sung mostly by the fakirs and bauls with instruments like Ektara/ Doobki/ Dotara/ Khomok.This album is a collection of Bengali folk songs sung by various folk artistes of Bengal. Most of the songs are traditional with no mention of lyricists.

The album title is also derived from a traditional folk song and it means “Don’t fall in love”. The combination of artistes and different singing styles makes this album very different from other Bengali folk song albums. Purna Das baul, the undoubted king of bauls along with Amar Pal and Kartick Das sings some old traditional songs. Anshuman Roy and Subhash Chakraborty along with Geeta Chowdhury add some Bhatiyali, Bhawaiya and Jhumur tunes.

Songs like “Je jon Hari sei toh Allah” sung by Kartick Das Baul talks about unity in religion where as “Bhaja Gouranga” sung by Amar Pal is a traditional prayer song. The album ends with the song “Hari Din toh gelo” which is another traditional song. This song is very popular among the widows aged around 80‘s and 90‘s as this is a prayer to the almighty asking for a peaceful death after a contained life.. The diversity of the songs and artistes makes this album a unique collection to the bengali folk song lovers.
