While the James Cameron franchise will return to theaters on December 18, 2020, Massive Entertainment ( The Division ) will be responsible for expanding its universe according to a cross media logic . And the goal of the developers is therefore to get closer to the release of the film, as a Ubisoft representative recently explained to IGN .

Avatar is one of the biggest and most powerful entertainment brands. Our first game was profitable and we have big plans for the new one, led by a new studio and engine. The film will be released in late 2020, so our game will not be released until fiscal year 2021.
