The Codex Caesareus Upsaliensis, today treasured at the University Library of Uppsala, is a wonderful Gospel book commissioned by the German Emperor Henry III for the Goslar minster. It is richly decorated with full-page miniatures depicting the four Evangelists, Christ in Majesty crowning Henry III and his consort, and the Emperor alone presenting the Gospel-book to St. Simon and St. Jude, the patron saints of Goslar Cathedral. Scholars agree that the manuscript was made in the scriptorium of Echternach Abbey in the 11th century.
