A day in East Austin, Texas (neighborhood tour)

This is a look at the area of East Austin around East 5th Street. It's a really developed area with a bunch of tall apartment complexes and a look of gentrification. It includes a walking/biking/scooter tail and a light rail. And there are many stores that line the first level of these apartment complexes, including Japanese BBQ, Snooze, Chipotle, Juiceland, Hopdoddy Burger Bar, Target, Whole Foods, Brew and Brew, Fair Market (event venue), Whole Foods and Stouts Pizza Co.

The night before this was an epic night at Sam's Town Point with the bands going over in time and playing until past 3AM, and a surprise appearance by Charlie Crockett. I found some recovery from the late night with a smoothy from Juiceland and then found some food at Ramen Tatsu-Ya as well. They had some live music at The White Horse on this day. And ultimately I made it to Industry where I participated in the Taking Back Austin event. This was the end of SXSW so the city was celebrating having the city back and the service industry workers were celebrating with crawfish and booze and lots of music. Good times.
