We decided to go with butcher block counters for our kitchen renovation because they are inexpensive and fairly easy to DIY. We haven't had the best experiences with purchasing large stone counters in the past....It usually takes a few weeks for the company to come out and measure, cut, then deliver and install. They even messed up the cut on the first go around, and we had to wait even longer for them to do it again. That wasn't something we wanted to do again.

The cutting and sanding of this butcher block went fairly easily for me. Just make sure you are always super careful when you use a circular saw. They can get caught up and kick back on you super fast.

I don't have a ton of experience staining wood...and it always feels very stressful to do because once you do it you can't really go back easily. I wouldn't say this was the most professional staining job, but I got it to look good enough for our liking!

The installation process was easy! All you need is some glue/adhesive and cabinet screws. You can't see it super well in the video...There's a hole in the triangular brace of the cabinet that you screw up into to attach the counter to the cabinets.
