Dear Aspirants,
English is an indispensable part of the SSC syllabus and especially when it comes to SSC Stenographer exam, the part becomes even more crucial. As the SSC Stenographer 2024 written exam is approaching, this is high time to be geared up and complete your preparation with grace. Check out this video to understand as to how you can achieve 90+ marks out of 100 in the written exam of SSC Stenographer 2024.
We need to understand that mastering three skills allow us to score excellent marks in this exam. Those skills are Reading Skills, Grammar and Vocabulary. They comprise for approx 40%, 30% and 30% respectively when it comes to marks composition.
Skill No. 1: Having an upper hand in reading skills helps you to score well in topics like Passages, Cloze tests, Comprehensions, etc. The only and most pivotal method to improve your reading skills is to read as much as possible. However, your resources need to be credible. Newspaper is one such resource which allows you to read a variety of articles from a variety of editors on a variety of topics. But what I would suggest is not to rush towards completing the article. Remember, you are not required to impress anyone. Instead, read between the lines. Observe that how different phrases, articles, prepositions, etc are used in a sentence and try of infer the meaning of them. In this way, you will be able to build such skills which would enable you to read the passages quickly and answer the requisite questions accordingly. For newspaper I would suggest to go with the Indian Express.
I have already made a video on how to read newspaper for SSC and other competitive exams which you may check out using : • How to read newspaper for SSC CGL and...
Skill No. 2: Having Grammatical skills helps you to improve topics like Sentence Improvement, Errors finding, Active Passive, Direct Indirect, Subject Verb Agreement, etc. The questions of Sentence improvement or errors involving the topics like SVA, Voices, Speech are the favourites of SSC. For Grammar, reading and revising the rules is the only method of improvement. However, you should know that SSC employs more focus on the Exceptions of the Rules. You should know and learn the rules but you should also know the Exceptions of their because more often than not they are asked directly in the exams by SSC.
And please do not underestimate the importance of solving previous year questions paper. Do it constantly.
Skill No. 3: It's Vocabulary. I have made a detailed video on that topic. I would request to please watch that video using link: • HOW TO IMPROVE VOCABULARY | HOW TO IM... . Remember, without watching that video, the purpose of this video remains unfulfilled. Do note down that, SSC repeats its questions when it comes to Vocabulary. Be it synonyms-antonyms, One Word Substitutions, Idioms and Phrases, SSC repeats its questions. hence, you should understand that the importance of solving previous year questions papers becomes even more applicable.
