In the past few years, the people of Iraq have experienced particularly difficult times under the control of Da’esh. Two years have now passed since the defeat of Da’esh, and their presence is still felt throughout all retaken areas: in contaminated lands still booby-trapped with explosive hazards, in damaged infrastructure, and in the decline of basic services.

UNMAS will continue to clear explosive hazards and make the country safer for all Iraqis.
