Morel Mushroom Hunting Using a Dog!

Morel mushroom (Morchella spp.) season is upon us. I take you into the early spring woods to demonstrate how one can use a scent-trained dog to locate these choice edible wild mushrooms. The video will demonstrate the basics of getting a dog to do scent work from container searches inside to outdoor environment searches for a target odour. The end goal is for the dog to find the handler some wild edible mushrooms for the dinner table!

**Please remember when foraging for mushrooms, when in doubt about identification, throw it out. Also, DO NOT have your dog search for wild mushrooms if they have any tendency to eat things off the forest floor. This could be a FATAL MISTAKE as some mushrooms are lethal when ingested.**
