Western Blot: Introduction to SDS-PAGE

Описание к видео Western Blot: Introduction to SDS-PAGE

The western blot is a widely used research technique that detects proteins using antibodies. One of the first steps in the western blot is the SDS-PAGE. SDS-PAGE is used for denaturing proteins in a linear form and separating them on a gel based on their molecular weight. This video will cover some of the theory behind an SDS-PAGE. Additionally, the video lists the materials and reagents needed for an SDS-PAGE and covers how to conduct it, using footage from a laboratory at The Research Institute of St. Joe's Hamilton/McMaster University.

This video was made by McMaster University students Aniqa Chaudhry, Brooke D'Mello, Ibrahim Ilahi, Kunwar Karim, Mubariz Maqsood, Adnan Moinuddin, and Julia Zhu in collaboration with the Demystifying Research McMaster Program.

We would like to also acknowledge the contributions of Dr. Takuma Isshiki, who provided guidance in the process of making this video. Finally, we would like to also thank Dr. Kjetil Ask and the Ask Lab for the additional guidance, insights and support.
