In this video, I throw and trim a Japanese sake cup (guinomi) from dark stoneware. Starting with 190 grams of clay, I focus on finding an organic form - the shape appears naturally under my hands and the rim is left as it forms, without forcing corrections.

The next day, I trim the foot ring, keeping it simple and functional. I don’t try to “fix” the cup - I just reveal what’s already there. After glazing and firing, this kind of cup usually holds around 80–100 ml, which makes it perfect not only for sake but also for Gongfu tea sessions.

Sake cups are small but significant in Japanese tradition - they’re vessels for sharing and appreciating the drink, often used in quiet, mindful moments. Holding a handmade cup changes the experience, making every sip feel special.
