When you begin to wonder why a thing is a way it is, you feel all your energy into finding an answer for it. Thus, one answer leads you to another question, and you gain a lot of knowledge regarding a particular topic. This knowledge helps you to think creatively when need be.
To think creatively you need to constantly change your limits. You need to set a goal, find a way to achieve that goal, and once you do so, set another goal and start working towards it.
While it is something that happens spontaneously, being observant and noting down all the possibilities helps you to become more analytical, and it helps in improving the way you perceive whatever happens.
As a first step after you start thinking, you have to let go of the idea of 'one reality.
One reality simply means that you have only one correct answer concerning a particular problem, and there can be no other. One simple way of letting go of that notion is by taking note of this example.
Let us say you want to reach point A from point B. You are now at the freedom of using any mode of transport that you like. Now that means, there are different ways to reach the same destination, and, depending upon what kind of transport you use, the amount of time that is consumed by you to reach point B highly varies.
But this doesn't mean that the person who took more time or less time to reach the same place when compared to you is at fault. They just did it differently. You have to accept the fact that different methods and concepts can be applied concerning a particular constraint by you to perform a task and complete it.
This allows you to understand another reality, view the same concept from a different perspective, and then make your conclusion. In such situations, mind play is what is important. You can start asking questions like why is it that if I take an airplane I reach the same place quicker than expected, while if I take a bullock cart I take longer?
Asking such questions makes you wonder about the why and how of every situation that you deal with in daily life. Asking questions is the ability that makes creative thinkers stand a class apart from everyone else, and make innovations happen.
