Main Weapons: Scutum (shield), Gladius (sword)
Armor: Helmet, Manicae on Left Arm, Bronze Ocrae on Right Leg, Leather Protection on Left Leg
Type of Combat: Close contact combat with an approach like a "Testudo" (Turtle). The tower shield gives Murmillo and edge in defense and keeps his gladius from opponent's view. When in close rage, Murmillo uses his gladius to thrust at his opponent.

Main Weapons: Parmula (shield), Sica Supina (curved blade)
Armor: Helmet, Manicae on Right Arm, Iron/ Bronze Ocrae on both legs, Long Padded Protection on both legs
Type of Combat: Thraex (Thracians) relied on agility to move fast as opposed to heavily armed opponent. Close combat attempting to open Murmillo's guard. The goal is to tire opponent with continuous attacks aiming for opponent's shoulder that carries the shield.
