On January 25, 2020, a security system protecting a vacant house in Tallahassee, Florida was triggered, alerting a local police officer to check the property. They were expecting at the most to uncover a thief, or maybe just a squatter - what they found instead was shocking.

In the front yard of the house, a large object was wrapped in blankets and plastic. As officers began to peel away the layers, they came face-to-face with the deceased body of 28-year-old Johnathan Spooner, who had been beaten to death.
