Struggling to meet the 150 credit requirement for your CPA license? You're not alone! This video breaks down the clever strategies you can use to bridge the 30-hour gap and fast-track your CPA journey, including what I think is the best option for earning those additional 30 credit hours you need for CPA licensing.

Here are some good ways to get 30 additional credit hours for meeting the 150 requirement for your CPA license:

Options for Earning Additional 30 Credits

Community College Courses: Consider enrolling in specific accounting or business courses offered at a local community college. They're often a more affordable option compared to university courses.

Continuing Education (CPE) Courses: While these typically count towards maintaining your CPA license after you obtain it, some states allow certain CPE courses to fulfill credit hour requirements (check with your state board).

Post-Baccalaureate Certificates: Universities sometimes offer specialized certificate programs in accounting or business that can be completed in a shorter timeframe than a full Master's degree.

College Level Examination Program - CLEP exams are designed to assess knowledge in various general education subjects. While they might not directly cover accounting topics tested on the CPA Exam, some states may allow them to fulfill general education requirements needed for your bachelor's degree. If your state board accepts CLEP exams and the credits are applied to an accredited college or university transcript, they may count towards the total 150 credit hour requirement. Degree Programs:

Master's in Accounting (MAcc): This program is specifically designed to fulfill the education requirements for CPA licensure. It focuses on advanced accounting topics and often fulfills both the accounting and business credit hour needs.

Master's of Business Administration (MBA) with Accounting Concentration: While not all MBAs meet CPA requirements, some offer concentrations in accounting that can cover the necessary credit hours. Be sure the program aligns with your state board's curriculum requirements.

Bachelor's Degree Completion: If you don't already have a bachelor's degree, some universities offer programs designed for individuals with some college credit to complete their bachelor's in accounting or business. This can be a good option if you need a significant number of credit hours.

Online College Courses

Two universities that offer accredited online course include:

Louisiana State University: https://shorturl.at/doU07

Arizona State University: https://asuonline.asu.edu/admission/n...

For other option, search “non-degree online college courses” online and research available options.

Additional Tips:

Credit Evaluation: Many universities offer credit evaluation services where they assess your existing college transcripts and work experience to see if any credits can be transferred.

State Board Requirements: Always check with your state's Board of Accountancy to confirm the specific credit hour requirements and accepted course types.
