On Thursday last week, the Osuji & Smith Lawyers team came together to honor a man who has given so much to all of us—our Managing Partner, Dr. Charles Osuji (Hon. D.). It was a day filled with gratitude and celebration for the incredible journey Charles has led over the past decade.

For months, our OSL team worked quietly and carefully to create something truly meaningful: a surprise party and a heartfelt video montage featuring messages from friends and family across the world, from Nigeria to Korea, as well as those closer to home who could join us in person. A testament to the profound impact Charles has made on the lives of so many.

In addition to the video, every member of our team came together to create an honorary plaque signed by all of us, representing the admiration and respect we hold for the leader who inspires us every day. It was presented by Akolisa (Ako) Ufodike PhD FCPA, Deputy Minister of Trade, Immigration and Multiculturalism, adding further significance to an already unforgettable moment.

As Juliette Omonigho so beautifully said in her speech, Charles is someone who celebrates every milestone in the lives of those around him—be it big or small. This time, it was our turn. Our turn to celebrate him. To honor his 10th anniversary of being called to the Alberta bar, a journey defined by integrity, relentless dedication, and an unwavering commitment to lifting others.

Charles, this was for you—a man who leads with his heart, who inspires through action, and who never stops showing up. Your generosity, leadership, and passion make us all better, and it was an honor to give back to you in this small way. You are more than a boss; you are a mentor, a role model, and a beacon of hope to so many.

Thank you for everything you do—for your team, your clients, and your community. Here’s to the incredible legacy you are building, one that will inspire generations to come. We are so proud to be part of your journey. 🌱
