Flash Gordon is the protagonist of a space adventure comic strip created & originally drawn by Alex Raymond. First published on January 7, 1934, the strip was inspired by, created to compete with, the already established Buck Rogers adventure strip.

Flash is science fiction's most enduring super-hero icon, his name has become synonymous with heroic deeds. Flash Gordon is also the original inspiration behind Star Wars, the muse to rock super group, Queen & star of his own cult 1980s movie. This volume presents the continuing adventures of Flash Gordon, the original guardian of the galaxy as he strives to save us all from a slew of villains hell-bent of domination, destruction.

Author: Born in 1923, Dan Barry's long career in comics began in 1941 working for the Funnies Inc. Comic. He would go on to work for Timely, Feature Comics & Fawcett. Following his national service in the US Air Force, Barry returned to comics assisting Burne Hogarth on Tarzan newspaper strip before taking over the daily strip in 1947. In 1951 he was hired to revive the Flash Gordon daily strip and in 1968 he took over the Sunday strip too. He would continue to draw Flash Gordon for nearly 50 years and would continue to draw comics right up to his death in 1997 at the age of 74.

Penciller: Raboy began his art career with the Works Progress Administration during the Great Depression. In the 1940s he began working with the Harry A. Chesler studio of comics artists. Raboy began drawing comic books, gained fame as the illustrator for Captain Marvel, Jr. & the Green Lama. Raboy was a great admirer of Alex Raymond, kept a portfolio of Alex Raymond's Flash Gordon comics by his side for inspiration & guidance as he worked. In the spring of 1946, King Features hired Raboy to continue the Sunday page adventures of Flash Gordon, which he continued to work on until his death.
