Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville says it is investigating an incident in which an individual not affiliated with the hospital entered a non-public area without authorization.

FOX 17 News received a tip that claims the staff at Ascension Saint Thomas were notified of "a woman impersonating a nurse, going into patients' rooms."

Once asked about the alleged incident, a spokesperson with Ascension Saint Thomas told FOX 17 News that a non-authorized person was trying to gain access to a patient's prescribed medication, but that staff quickly intervened and stopped it from escalating.

Metro Nashville Police Department has since arrested the individual.
