In an age when everyone is abandoning internal combustion engines and building electric cars, this Mazda CX-60 features a diesel engine that is totally brand new.

It's 3.3-litres in size and features a clever new piston design and a new fuel injection technology called Distribution-Controlled Partially Premixed Compression Ignition. To put it simply, the engine can operate in a more closely controlled, lean-burn state of operation for longer than perhaps a four-cylinder diesel.

To find out if I think Mazda has completely lost the plot and if this CX-60 diesel is worth recommending, I took it for a drive.
